We will carry 35mm cameras both point and shoot and SLR  for rent. We also have cameras that shoot 110, 120, 127, 640 and 828 film for rent as well.  We want to encourage people to try some of these retro film formats just for the fun and try the experience. The fees will correspond to the camera  and is more to  build a sense of community and support our ongoing presence at the market rather than a monetary income.

We intend to carry the film to support camera usage and to demonstrate that many of the vintage cameras now have film available for usage.

A lending library.

Towards this effort we intend to have various photography books such as by Susan Sontag, Dorothea Lange and Ansel Adams whereby there is no cost fee just a deposit to ensure the return of the material.  We believe that certain text and imagery when it exists and is shared by many creates a sense of community.  our philosophy page may speak indirectly towards this.

For 35 mm camera film you can go anywhere.  for the other mention film you can go locally to B&H Photo or there is a mail-order, thedarkroom.com  which will develop your film. thedarkroom.com also has excellent logs and videos for people who have no prior knowledge of or what film speeds to use. Highly recommended.

The rental program is not designed to be a monetary success.  It is to utilize how vintage cameras are various modalities of our self in time and to utilize this trait in building a sense of community.  Even those who may not want to stray from digital photography may admire this effort.  The intent is for people to try and share their experiences whether it be via our blog, Instagram or their own. A sense of community is better built than any individual, to know there are many ways the Sputnik space monkey can dance. (see our philosophy page)
